About Us
I am a native Atlantan and my husband is from Richmond, Virginia but moved to Atlanta in his late teens. We were married in Atlanta in 2008, and not long after found ourselves growing tired of the big city life and yearning for a slower paced lifestyle. After visiting several small towns outside of Atlanta, we settled on the north Georgia Mountains where we have resided for the past 16 years and couldn't be happier.
Our history
My husband and I established The Barn at Young Harris, Inc. in 2016 as a premier event venue. Located on 31 acres of pasture in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains, The Barn has been home to many weddings and events since its inception. In 2023, a client told us about their trip to see Scottish Highland Cows at a nearby farm and we were immediately captivated and wanted to learn more. After visiting a farm in NC to see thes Coos up close, we quickly fell in love with these majestic creatures. Little did we know that by early 2024, we would include the title, The Highlands of Young Harris to our business profile. While we are continually learning about the care and well-being of these lovely animals, we are taking strides to ensure they have the best home on our 31 acres. Our cows are all registered with the American Highland Cattle Association and our goal is to raise and breed only registered Scottish Highland Cows. We are fascinated with the unique personalities they each hold and invite you to come and see what makes The highlands of Young Harris so special.
Our specialities
Some people raise Scottish Highland Cows for the beef. Others raise them for their crossbreed potential. Our focus is to raise and breed champion quality Scottish Highland Cows that are registered with the American Highland Cattle Association.
